The VOTT range first appeared in 1946
John Hilliard is considered the designer of the Altec A7’s “Voice of the Theatre” (VOTT) concepts. Hilliard is considered one of the most talented acoustical engineers of the 20th century. His designs influenced speaker design for decades and helped revolutionize audio for home and cinema. The A7’s speaker cabinet is made of 3/4 plytwood and has a black splatter finish. The cabinet is handmade and acoustically refined. The A7’s drivers include a Model 515 Lansing woofer and a Model 902 high frequency compression drive.
